Dear Alta Public School Community,
It is with great honor and enthusiasm to serve as the new Superintendent of Alta Public Schools. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my predecessor Mr. Barry Baxter for his leadership in moving Alta forward during the past several years. I’m confident that we will continue to thrive as a result of building upon the work that has been done.
Alta Public Schools holds high expectations for all students through rigorous and relevant educational experiences that challenge them to become responsible, ethical and engaged citizens. We are driven by our IB mission which aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
Our vision statement is to provide a world-class education to every student through an inquiry and investigation school model that will prepare students to meet the challenges of a global 21st century.
The following Core Values guide our day-to-day actions and decisions as educators:
1 Inspire a thirst for lifelong learning.
2 Model personal responsibility while holding ourselves to the highest standards of conduct.
3 Foster international mindedness with an understanding of world cultures and languages.
4 Promote and sustain a healthy global environment.
5 Foster a desire to care for and serve others.
6 Appreciate the importance of working together for common purposes.
7 Prepare children to lead positive change in our world by teaching them how to think rather than what to think.
Our school leaders and teachers participated in meaningful professional development over the summer aligned to our mission and goals. I’m very excited about the many possibilities coming our way this school year. I am grateful for the commitment of our students, parents, staff, community partners and board members. Together we will continue to plan and provide for a quality education in the 21st Century for our students. Our students both need, and deserve, nothing less if they are to reach their greatest potentials.
As parents and community members you are critical partners in the education of our students. It may be a cliché, but it truly does take a village to educate a child. We appreciate and value the trust that parents have placed in our staff. We are committed to developing in each student the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to ensure many paths to a successful future. Our number one priority will always be the success of every student.
