Clubs and Activities

Each year a voice of the student survey is conducted to see what clubs and activities our students want. Teachers are also asked what they have a passion for and have the experience to lead. By combining these two we offer a unique set of clubs and activities to our students each school year.

Please refer to the Clubs Listing Below for information about clubs being offered and how to join.

as the 10th-grade advisor at the Gage site. Both teachers will meet with the club members once a week during lunch and report back to one another, ascertaining that all members are on the same page regarding upcoming exploration events. Additionally, we can sporadically have
meetings via Google Hangouts if we have an agenda that requires realtime communication between 9th and 10th-grade members. We, ideally, will have one outing per month on either a weekday evening or the weekend. The latter will be contingent on the type of activity (e.g.
hiking; kayaking; play/theater). As an explorer, one is required to maintain academic good standing; bi-quarterly grade checks will be made.

The purpose of this club is to expose students to a wide variety of films and personal narratives from a gamut of life experiences and sociology. Students are empowered with the skills they need to tell their own stories. Through this club, students learn the fundamentals of story telling, electronic news gathering (ENG), camera fundamentals, and technique in making films. Students are given the tools and inspiration they need to make their own films during class time and beyond. Students grow in the pillar qualities of IB, especially in inquiry, self-discovery, communicating, and risk-taking. Ultimately, students will walk away with a well-developed skill set for filmmaking, but more importantly, they will walk away with a better understanding of their own story and their power to communicate that story and those ideas to an audience.
